BASIC CONCEPT Critical temperature: The temperature at which the resistance of a material suddenly drops to zero is termed as critical or transition temperature. Superconductors: The phenomenon of disappearance of electrical resistance below a certain temperature is termed as superconductivity and the material in this state is termed as superconductor. The resistance of a metal decreases with decrease in temperature and reaches a certain minimum value but the process of cooling down a material in order to convert into a superconductor is very costly and hence a lot of research was undertaken for this purpose.
